Thinking about coaching but not sure where to start? You're not alone. Here are the questions we hear most often at Laven.
What happens in a first session?
Your first conversation is about getting to know each other. Your coach will ask what's bringing you in, what you'd like to be different, and what a good outcome would look like. There's no right answer, and you don't need to arrive with a polished goal.
How long does coaching take?
Some people get what they need from one or two conversations. Others meet a coach regularly for several months while working through a career change or leadership challenge. At Laven there's no subscription or program commitment: you book one conversation at a time.
Will my coach tell me what to do?
Usually not. A coach helps you think clearly, notice patterns and choose your own next steps. They'll ask good questions, reflect back what they hear, and hold you accountable to what you decide.
Is what I share confidential?
ICF-trained coaches follow the ICF Code of Ethics, which includes keeping client information confidential. Ask your coach how they handle notes and privacy. A good coach will be happy to explain.
How much does it cost?
Here you "buy your coach a coffee," paying what you want on a sliding scale. It's meant to make great coaching accessible.
How do I pick the right coach?
Look at their coaching areas, read their bio, and trust your gut about who you'd enjoy talking to. Our guide goes deeper.
